Don't Worry? Yeah right...

This is how many of us feel when we hear people tell us not to worry about circumstances we find ourselves in.

Phillipians 4:6-7 states:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God, and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. ( NIV)

Can you imagine never being anxious about anything? Doesn't it seem impossible? I mean really - we have worries on the job, in our homes, marriages, at school.

But I think what the Bible is telling us is to turn those worries into our daily prayers. Maybe instead of worrying, we could start praying more?

I have found that the peace I receive from God is different from what the world offers. This peace does not come from positive thinking, everything being just perfect, feeling warm and fuzzy. This peace comes from knowing that the God I serve is in control. The God that created the universe, the heaven and the earth. This God is in control of my life every single day, hour, minute and second.

The next time worry tries to take control of you, stop and pray about that very thing. You will not only experience peace, you will build a relationship with God that will provide a place of refuge from everyday struggles.
