Power of a Praying Parent Book Review

I have had this book for at least 12 years. My oldest will be 13 this month.
I love this book because there are times when you just don't know what to pray for you children. In such a harsh world, how do you protect them at all times?
This book helped me come to the realization that I can not, but that God could and would.
I am not naive to think this would keep all bad from happening. I do think however that in the bad God provides a peace that surpasses understanding and that he also provides guidance on how to handle each situation we are faced with.
This is a book that I keep close during my quiet times, one that I have given to many friends and one that I highly recommend. Power of a Praying Parent

Yes Lord...Amen

[Israel+Houghton+-+A+Deeper+Level.jpg]

I heard this song this morning by Israel Houghton and New Breed and it so witnessed to my spirit. The Lord tells us to be anxious for nothing, but in all things with prayer and supplication, to let our request to be made the the Lord and He will give us a peace that surpasses all understanding.

Today choose to lay your burdens at the feet of the Lord and say yes to His will for your life...

Don't Worry? Yeah right...

This is how many of us feel when we hear people tell us not to worry about circumstances we find ourselves in.

Phillipians 4:6-7 states:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God, and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. ( NIV)

Can you imagine never being anxious about anything? Doesn't it seem impossible? I mean really - we have worries on the job, in our homes, marriages, at school.

But I think what the Bible is telling us is to turn those worries into our daily prayers. Maybe instead of worrying, we could start praying more?

I have found that the peace I receive from God is different from what the world offers. This peace does not come from positive thinking, everything being just perfect, feeling warm and fuzzy. This peace comes from knowing that the God I serve is in control. The God that created the universe, the heaven and the earth. This God is in control of my life every single day, hour, minute and second.

The next time worry tries to take control of you, stop and pray about that very thing. You will not only experience peace, you will build a relationship with God that will provide a place of refuge from everyday struggles.

Careful what you ask for...

So after completing my Kay Aurthur bible study I have been more attuned to not only praying but stopping to listen to Gods response.

Well, today was the first day I actually stopped and went over each of the things I have before the Lord and spent so time being totally silent.

I came away with something I did not expect...

A To-Do list... a long one.

My time being silent before the Lord has reminded me that God is not my genie in a bottle. All I have to do is pray and then...poof.

I have to do my part and then release everything else to Him.

The other nice thing is I went into my silent time with Chanelle's To-Do list, I walked away with His.

Be blessed
